Special Activity Groups

Please contact Special Activites Chair if you have questions about special activities: specialactivities@hillosc.com

Special Activity Groups include:

Breakfast Club - Meets monthly for a casual breakfast at local restaurants around town. We will vary the day of the week we will meet from month to month, to accommodate everyone's schedules, and even meet once or twice on a Saturday. Children are welcome at your own discretion.

Mah Jongg - Pung, Cracks, Dots, and Bams! If these are terms you know then let's play Mah Jongg! If you are not familiar with them...then let's play Mah Jongg! This group will teach you a great Chinese tile game and the group is relaxed and fun.

Mom & Tots - This is a group of Moms and their children who go on monthly fun and adventerous field trips. Last year we went to the Dinosaur Park, Fire Station tour, Museum of Natural History, Farm and Thanksgiving Point, Gateway Children's Museum and Front Runner train ride, bowling, and toured the Great Harvest Bread Co.

Cooking Club - This is a time for spouses to get away for the evening, talk, hang out, and enjoy some adult conversation while sharing great food and recipes. Each month the host/hostess will choose our cooking theme. Each member will then bring a dish representing that theme to the club meeting. At each Cooking Club, members begin arriving at 6:30 and we eat at 7pm. We will say goodnite at 9pm.  Afterward, recipies are emailed to the club organizer and then shared with the group via the Cooking Club blog.  Cooking Club is an adults-only affair, only "babes in arms" are welcome. Walking children are not allowed.

Craft Club - Open to crafters of all skill levels. Even if you don't consider yourself a 'crafter' you may find your inner Martha with this club. We'll be meeting the last Thursday of each month. At each meeting we will make a different craft or crafts. Everyone is encouraged to bring a snack to share with the group. In most cases a supply list will be emailed out ahead of time so you can get any materials you may need. We'll be trying out a variety of crafts and techniques throughout the year. The crafts will be inexpensive, usually $10 or less. We'll be making crafts for the home, kids, and ourselves. There will be a Craft Club blog later this fall showcasing our crafty creations.

Bunco - "...roll the dice and take your chances." Okay, nothing that serious. Join old and new OSC friends the third Thursday evening of every month for delicious snacks, wonderful conversation, and a chance to win prizes playing a simple dice game.

Lunch Bunch - Join the lunch bunch once a month as we try various restaurants around the area. We usually meet approximately the 2nd Tuesday of each month at 11:30am. However, we're a flexible group and usually discuss the next month's place time to meet as we are enjoying each other's company. Please join us for fun and friendship -- and a tasty meal!

Quilt Group - The quilt gropu has been meeting twice a month, the 1st and 3rd Thursday of the month at 9am and ending around 11:30. There is also a possibility of doing a once a month evening group if there is enough interest.

Book Club - We meet once a month and discuss a book previously selected. We meet at 7pm to around 9pm at someone's home or Starbucks. We will be selecting books for the coming year in September. It's a great way to read a book you may never have selected yourself and yet enjoy. Come have a great time to relax and enjoy.

Texas Hold'em Club - We try to meet once a month (usually the 4th Thursday of the month).  Everyone pays $5 and the host buys a gift card for the winner. We meet in individual's homes. We would enjoy any skill levels, including newbies who we can teach the rules to.

Girls Night Out - this is the perfect activity to just get out and hang with the girls! In this past this group has met monthly and the activities each month varied, from dinner and a movie, to shopping, to bowling, and much more. Most activities were in the evening, but there were a few Saturday trips as well. This group needs a leader to coordinate the first meeting and then let the group run by itself with different suggestions from the group.  Contact us at specialactivities@hillosc.com if you're interested.

Playgroup - The playgroup meets weekly. We are a casual group who takes turns hosting playgroup in our homes or in the park (during nicer weather), to let the kids play and let the moms chat. Playgroup members are not obligated to attend every week and RSVPs are not required. This is a great way for both moms and kids to make friends. Moms pregnant with their first child or with only a baby are welcome and encouraged to come, as well as those with toddlers. We also occasionally meet for a "Moms' Dinner Out".

Scrapbook Club - We meet monthly to work on our scrapbook projects.  Digital scrapbookers are welcome!  We are looking for feedback as to what day of the week works best for you as well as frequency.

Tennis Club - Everyone come out and play on Tuesdays, 10am at the outdoor Tennis Courts behind the old gym for fun and exercise. We can even start up teams for doubles if we have enough people.

Golfing Club - Come join us! We're golfing at the Hubbard Golf Course on Mondays at 9:30am!
